Well her goes on Day 1.  I hope you can join in with the recipes and please post back and let me know how you got on.  For the first day I thought I would keep it really simple afterall I don't want myself or anyone else to be put off before we have already started, as I mentioned before I am no great cook and get about as exotic as a Sheperds Pie!
After looking at this recipe i took a trip to Lidls and purchased some of their cheap dark chocolate which was on offer for 39p I halved the recipe as I guessed the children wouldn't like it as it contains quite abit of alcohol, but Megan who is 14 woofed it down and wanted more!  more than one serving  would be quite sickly but if you love chocolate you will love this.  I couldn't believe the price of rum and refused to pay it so I used Ameretto, i know its not French but its alcohol!

Mousse au Chocolat Basque which translates to Basque Chocolate Mouse! is from:
The Basque Country (Basque: Euskadi, Spanish:
Pais
Vasco
) is a region at the north of
Spain, bordering the Atlantic Ocean and France.  It is defined formally as an autonomous  community of three provinces within Spain, and culturally including a fourth  province and a small portion of France.
Basque Country is one of the world's top gastronomic destinations, with key
gourmet centers in
San Sebastian, Hondarribia and Bilbao

Mousse au Chocolat Basque
Serves 6 and takes no time at all but the longer you can chill (up to 24 hours) the better.

180g plain chocolate
2.5 fl oz of water
1 tbsp butter
3 eggs
2 tbsps of rum (or whatever you have orange juice would probably do)

Chop chocolate into small pieces and combine with water in a saucepan, cook over a gentle heat until it has turned into a thick cream. allow to cool slightly then beat in the butter, add the rum or whatever you have and then beat in the egg yolks one at a time.  Whip the egg whites untill stiff and fold into the mixture.  pour into small pots or glasses and chill until set (at least a couple of hours).
To make them abit fancier you could add some whipped cream and broken flake to the top.
and thats it!
If you would like to comment please do so I know that someone is out there!!!
